A quick note: People keep asking me whether they can share the link to this blog.  Yes, absolutely!  Please do!  Share it with friends, family, colleagues, kids in the library, and anyone you think would be interested.  It is a public blog and anything I post here is for public consumption.  I write because I love writing, I want to share my experiences and views with the world, and because I believe that what I am doing is important.  Please help spread awareness about the ongoing refugee crisis, either by spreading this blog or doing further research.  Never hesitate to ask questions!  I will always try to answer, or if I don’t feel confident in my own knowledge I will direct you to someone who can help.

  1. Sonia,
Jeanie forwarded the link to your blog and I have been following it. It is really exciting what you are doing. When I first became aware of the refuge crisis, especially at Lesvos, several months ago, my first thought was “I just want to go there!” Now I can be a voyeur instead.

  2. Hi Sonia,

My name is Hadas. Lizzie from Boston sent me a link to your blog, as I will be arriving to Athens on Thursday to volunteer with Greek Forum of Refugees. I am in the process of looking for accommodation for at least 3 weeks, with likely possibilities to extend my trip. Can you share any tips or resources to help me on my search? Thanks for keeping such a great blog–and spreading the word of what is actually happening there on the ground!

Thanks for your help in advance and all your hard work over there!

    • Hi Hadas, I’m so sorry I didn’t see this comment until now! Do you still need any assistance? I can absolutely help you get oriented, though I imagine at this point you’re well established. I do night shifts at Moria most nights if you’d like to speak in person, or you can contact me here and we could meet up.

Hope everything is going well for you and you’ve settled in successfully!
